In May 2022, the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) finalized the criteria to identify Maternity Care Target Areas (MCTAs): areas within Primary Care Health Professional Shortage Areas (HPSAs) that have a shortage of maternity care health professionals, such as OB/GYNs and Certified Nurse Midwives. The Primary Care Office (PCO) is responsible for the management of provider data and submission of various shortage designations in Kansas. Join us as we take a deep dive into MCTAs and their potential impacts on health providers and the communities they serve.

Rural Health Policy Institute Feb 8-10, 2022 Washington, D.C.
Advocacy has never been easier
NRHA’s virtual 32nd Annual Rural Health Policy Institute is your chance to guide the future of rural health policy with NRHA leadership and advocate for issues you care about with new and returning members of Congress and the administration Feb. 9-11.
Join NRHA and hundreds of rural health advocates from across the nation for the largest rural advocacy event in the country.
Registered attendees have received an email from CrowdCompass, our partner in developing the brand new NRHA Events app, providing access. Check the filter folders in your email client if you do not see it.
Alternatively, you can search the app store for NRHA Events to access via a mobile device. To view the event on your laptop, visit the virtual event portal.
“Now, more than ever before, is our time to convince Congress that rural heath isn’t just a headline,” says NRHA government affairs and policy vice president Carrie Cochran-McClain. “Rural health is a movement. It’s time for Capitol Hill to hear your voice.”
You’ll have the chance to:
Hear leaders within the administration and Congress outline their plans to make health care work in rural America
Attend NRHA's Advocacy 101 workshop Feb. 9 for aspiring rural health care advocates
Speak directly with your congressional delegation on Capitol Hill and educate them about the issues affecting rural health facilities in your community
Participate in NRHA’s Rural Health Disparities Summit and gain the tools to overcome significant challenges within your community
“Rural health, and NRHA in particular, feels like family,” says NRHA CEO Alan Morgan. “Everyone seems to know one another, and we understand the value of working together. Our Policy Institute is the family reunion you will not want to miss.”
We need your voice at our most important rural health advocacy event yet. Let’s put our ideas in motion and speak directly with our elected officials to advocate for legislation and policies that protect rural patients, providers, and their communities.
IMPORTANT: While the event date provided is accurate, please confirm the meeting TIME FRAMES with NRHA before the event.
*Disclaimers and Limitations: The event features within our Squarespace Website Builder will NOT provide the functionality to leave off a start and ending time for the event. You’ll need to verify the time frames with NRHA once they determine that before the event. Thank you.

National Rural Health Day
Rural communities are wonderful places to live and work, which is why approximately 57 million people – one in five Americans – call them home. These rural communities also have unique healthcare needs. National Rural Health Day is an opportunity to celebrate the “Power of Rural”, bringing to light the unique healthcare challenges that rural citizens face and showcasing the efforts of rural healthcare providers, State Offices of Rural Health and other rural stakeholders to address those challenges.
The National Organization of State Offices of Rural Health sets aside the third Thursday of every November to celebrate National Rural Health Day. The next celebration will take place on Thursday, November 18, 2021.
SAVE THE DATE NOW: KHA and KsRHA will co-host the Annual Kansas Rural Health Symposium on Thursday, November 18th. At this time, details are not available as to whether or not the symposium will be held virtually or in person. Please check back closer to October and November for an update. Thank you!

2021 KHA Annual Convention and Trade Show
September 9-10, 2021
Wichita, Kansas
The Kansas Hospital Association has been keeping a watchful eye on the latest COVID-19 developments. Our priority is the safety and well-being of the KHA membership and staff. Towards that end, KHA will be following all local, state and federal COVID-19 requirements, including guidance from the CDC. Additional details about protocols we will be asking all attendees to follow will be provided as we get closer.
We encourage individuals to REGISTER EARLY, as we will be limiting attendance to certain events to accommodate for appropriate spacing.
We are exploring options to provide additional areas at convention to watch a live stream of the general sessions, if additional spacing becomes necessary. Overflow rooms for some of the ticketed events may not be possible.
To provide our members additional flexibility, we have worked with the Hyatt Regency Wichita to extend the date that you may cancel your hotel reservation without penalty to Aug. 20.
For more information on the KHA Convention and Tradeshow CLICK HERE.
Also, feel free to reach out to the KHA Education Department at (785) 233-7436 if you have additional questions.
